What activities were you involved in during your time at Mason that impacted you?

I am currently volunteering with a local nonprofit called Wildlife Rescue League as part of my Nonprofit Sector class, and I led a fundraiser for NoVA RAFT back in 2021, which is an organization dedicated to helping Afghan refugees resettle in the Northern Virginia area

Did you have a favorite class or professor?

One of my favorite classes was my Queer Theory class with Tianna Cobb. While the course material was often difficult, the discussions we had were really fantastic--not to mention it's the class where I met my two closest friends here. My favorite professor would have to be Julie Owen--I've taken two classes with her and I highly recommend others do as well! She has such a great personality and always encourages personal and academic growth. She has been such a great resource and mentor to me over the last year, and I know she's done the same for many others.

What is your most memorable moment at Mason?

Honestly? I can't pinpoint an individual moment, because what really stuck out to me during my time at Mason was the personal and professional relationships I was lucky enough to make.

What is your next step? What are your future plans?

I have a summer internship with She's the First, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching girls and young women around the world about self-advocacy and empowerment. I am also in the process of starting my own business, which is an online platform for queer and disabled artists who focus on sustainability to sell their work.

As you are reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?

Don't be afraid to speak up! Whether that means you're the only one in class to answer a question, or you see something happening on campus that you don't stand for, don't be afraid to make yourself heard. It may seem scary, but it will be worth it.
