New Century College’s Social Action and Integrative Learning (SAIL) is accepting applications for participants and learning partners for all spring Alternative Break programs now through the October 9th deadline. Trips will take place March 5-12, 2016 and all trips are open to George Mason University students, faculty and staff.

Alternative Break enables participants to study systemic problems and volunteer to effect positive change. Some trips focus on environmental challenges while others focus on social issues such as human rights and access to education. Connection to community is one critical aspect of all SAIL AB trips, and each trip is organized in close partnership with a local organization skilled in integrating volunteer support to contribute to long-term community goals.

SAIL will offer a total of seven AB trips this year, including a new trip to Selma, AL. Other domestic trips will be held in Stuart, FL, Camden, NJ and Washington, DC. International trips are planned for Guatemala, Jamaica and El Salvador.

Each trip will have a different focus and volunteer opportunities, and complete descriptions can be found at http://sail.gmu.edu/alternative-break/alternative-break-trips.
