Over winter break, New Century College Associate Professor Al Fuertes led 13 undergraduate and graduate students on the course, NCLC 498 “Post-Genocide Community Development and Spirituality in Cambodia.”
By anyone’s standards, New Century College student Michelle Fremen (Legal Studies, 2015) leads a busy life. Full-time student, wife, mother and active member in Mason extra-curricular groups, Fremen relies on strong organizational skills to keep herself and her family on track. Now, Fremen hopes to take on an even greater challenge: law school.
New Century College (NCC) Assistant Professor Cher Weixia Chen has shown students that the law touches virtually every aspect of modern life. As a lead faculty member in NCC’s legal studies concentration, Chen encourages students to study the law and the issues surrounding it, and notes that everything from music to marriage to minimum wage has a legal angle through which it can be studied.
For Jennifer Shaskan (Communications, 2017), the past two months have been a whirlwind of excitement, preparation and new experiences. In January, Shaskan started an internship in the office of Senator Mark Warner (D, VA) where she serves as one of the six interns on his constituent services team.
