The Academic Excellence Awards are given at our degree celebration each year. The awards are based on grade point average as calculated in March for graduating students.

Lucas Leadership Scholarship
The School of Integrative Studies (SIS) Lucas Leadership Scholarship honors the contribution and leadership of Dr. Nance Lucas during her tenure as Associate Dean. This scholarship is open to George Mason University students enrolled in Integrative Studies or Environmental Sustainability Studies degrees. Scholarship is awarded as $1,000.

Experiential Learning Scholarship
The School of Integrative Studies (SIS) Experiential Learning (EL) Scholarship is open to George Mason University students enrolled in Integrative Studies or Environmental Sustainability Studies degrees. Scholarships range from $250 - $500

First Generation Scholarship
The School of Integrative Studies First Generation Student Scholarship is open to George Mason University students enrolled in Integrative Studies or Environmental Sustainability Studies degrees, who are the first in their immediate family to pursue an undergraduate education (e.g. neither parent/guardian have completed a four-year degree in the United States). Awards are given in consideration of financial need in the amount of $500 - $1,000.

Drs. Surya and Cecil Howard Book Fund
The purpose of the Award is to provide support for students majoring in Integrative Studies (INTS) within the School of Integrative Studies (SIS) to buy textbooks. Recipients must demonstrate characteristics of perseverance and generosity; traits exemplified by Ms. Howard’s late parents Surya and Cecil.
