Daniel's academic talents were recognized by Mason early on. His research paper on lemur endangerment won the Honors College Freshman Essay Award. He later presented that research at the Virginia Collegiate Honors Council Conference.

In addition to choosing the demanding curriculum of the Honors College in his first two years, Daniele continued to go beyond what was required by taking advanced classes, choosing challenging courses outside his major, and pursuing a minor in music. While maintaing a near-perfect GPA, he also contributed to the Mason community as an extremely active member of Student Government.

In Student Government, he served on the university services committee, dining subcommittee, and a state outreach commmittee (MASON). He worked to forge bonds between Mason and the local and state communities. He served as a Mason representative to Virginia 21, a grassroots lobbying organization that advocates for students at Virginia's public universities.

Daniele's goals include attending law school and ultimately holding a leadership position in industry or government. He received the Dean’s Challenge Scholarship for 2011-2012.
