BIS in Individualized Study
Concentrations
Lindsay Beymer, 2025
Major: BIS, concentration in human factors engineering
Hometown: Falls Church, VA
Plans after graduation: Beymer will continue working at the National Air and Space Museum while searching for a full-time position in human factors.
Most impactful course: “BIS 490 (Capstone Project) was the most impactful class I took in my major. Professor Janet Ha Poirot was very supportive, and my capstone project greatly improved with her guidance.”
Every idea counts
As an undergrad, Beymer completed a co-op in Research and Development at Johnson & Johnson MedTech. “I loved getting to work on real products and seeing them tested by surgeons. I also had an amazing team that made me enjoy going to work every day. I still keep in touch with my team and the other co-ops at the company,” she said. “I really enjoyed workshop sessions where everyone would throw out ideas for new designs. It was an environment where everyone was listened to and every idea counted.”
