Aquia Building 219 - Hybrid

Section Information for Fall 2019

This four-credit hybrid course will be taught in conjunction with INTS 475, and the graduate level offering as INTS 575 will involve students having several more rigorous assignments that involve direct study of the primary research literature.  The course explores research literature and best practices related to compassion fatigue and burnout which often plague early-career professionals in teaching, counseling, social work, conflict resolution, and other helping professions.  The course begins with a three-day intensive Thursday, Friday, and Saturday immediately before the start of most classes for Fall semester.  The course continues with weekly online learning throughout the semester.  Students will not only examine findings from the science of well-being and longitudinal studies of early-career helping professionals, but they will also conduct informal personal research applications of practices designed to cultivate enhanced resilience, meaning, and mental-emotional health.  This course is recommended for anyone planning a career in a helping profession such as classroom teaching, social justice advocacy, counseling, etc.

INTS 575 006 is a hybrid course with online coursework and in-class meetings.
