 Kickoff to Success Resource Fair 

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS: Following the New Student Convocation on Friday, August 21st, come join us from 3-5pm on Mason Pond Drive! This event will help you get connected and learn about campus resources. There will also be giveaways, sweet treats and direct connections to campus offices, student organizations and well-being initiatives.

Job #11202810 (Qualitative Research Assistant) 2 positions

This position will assist Dr. Powers Corwin and their team on their friendships and the post-college slump project which interviews people who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in the last 10 years about their friendships, how they have/or haven’t kept in touch from college, and how that has potentially affected their careers and personal lives. The study will contribute to literature in higher education and friendship studies with the hope of recommending practices to universities (and potentially employers) on what resources people need to make this transition. The position will need to be available to interview participants (evenings and weekends as needed), transcribe interviews, and work on literature reviews. 

Job #11202863 (Research Assistant- Generalist) 1 position

Job Description: Dr. Powers Corwin’s work centers at the intersections of friendships, trauma, gender and sexuality, and television. They also work within Appalachian Studies. They conduct qualitative interview-based research and textual/content analysis. In addition, they have a podcast “So You Wanna Research Pop Culture?” where they interview people who do this type of research and practice. This position asks for general skills and a desire to learn how to 1) conduct literature reviews, 2) learn journal style guides as needed 3) conduct interviews, transcribed them, and maintain OneDrive files) 4) podcast editing. There will also be publication opportunities for students who are interested.
