Work hard and you can be anything you want to be. America is the land of opportunity. These are the stories many of us hear growing up in the media, in school, in our families. But to what extent are they true? What are the implications of the stories we tell ourselves about poverty and equality? We will discuss these and related questions related to how opportunity is distributed and what visions of equality mean for people at the margins of the American Dream.
