On Tuesday, November 13 the Center for Global Education (CGE) at Mason is sponsoring our first ever STUDENT SUMMIT ON GLOBAL EDUCATION with Mason students who have participated in study abroad, internship, language study, service learning or semester abroad programs as resource persons, panelists and/or presenters. The purpose is to showcase the impact of the experience abroad on students' scholarship, academic competencies, advocacy, personal and social undertakings.

The summit comprises an opening program and several poster presentations in the morning (9:30am -12noon - at the West Lounge, 3rd floor, Johnson Center), followed by several panel presentations using a conference format in the afternoon (1pm-3:45pm) on the 3rd floor of the Johnson Center. During the conference, the audience can choose which presentation they are interested in attending.

Talking points or questions students will address and discuss at the summit, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Why did you study/do internship abroad?
  • Why did you choose the particular program?
  • How have you changed from the study/internship abroad experience?
  • How has the study/internship abroad program impacted you academically and professionally?
  • How has the study/internship abroad program impacted your choice of career or academic pursuits and personal goals?
  • How has the study/internship abroad program enhanced your research interests?
  • How has your study/internship abroad program helped you develop in global understanding/critical thinking/group collaboration/communication/cultural fluency competencies?
  • How have you used your study/internship abroad experience (or the skills and knowledge you developed abroad) in your job/academics?
  • What advice do you have for students still trying to decide if study/ internship abroad is for them?
  • What advice do you have for students preparing to study/internship abroad?
