Gorski to Speak on Activist Well-Being

George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Well-Being welcomes Professor Paul Gorski for a brown bag presentation entitled, "Activist Well-Being and the Sustainability of Social Change Movements." The talk will be held in Merten Hall, Room 1201 from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome to join this free event.

In recent years, Professor Gorski has explored the connection between activist burnout and its impact on social movements. Often, activists feel pressure to devote all their time and energy to their work for social change, yet this very dedication can leave them feeling depleted. Gorski said, "We need to have a conversation on well-being and self care. How do we create movements that have a concern for activists built-in?"

With support from the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being, Gorski is working to create a framework for activist well-being at Mason. Learn more about this research in his public presentation.
