On May 26, the School of Integrative Studies’ Assistant Professor Noura Erakat joined the Middle East Institute at the National University in Singapore for a conference, “The Middle East Peace Process After the Arab Uprisings.” Erakat participated in the International Law Panel and presented a paper entitled, “From Occupation to Warfare: How Israel Expanded Its Right to Use Force and Diminished Palestinian Resistance.”
Many from the diplomatic and academic communities attended the conference which was organized to spark discussion of the prospects and potential roadblocks to peace in the Middle East. The conference was timed to precede a new round of international peace talks scheduled to be held in Paris this summer.
