CLCE Living Learning Community Launches Fall 2012

The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement will launch a new Living Learning Community in Fall 2012, offering a unique opportunity for students to live in Piedmont hall, learn about critical social concerns and take immediate action to make a difference.

Members of the LLC will take a one-credit course each semester that will integrate leadership develop with experiential learning, making community service an extension of classroom learning. Students will go beyond an examination of issues to create action plans to address community needs. The LLC participants will choose the community concerns they want to focus on, such as homelessness and hunger, environmental degradation, public health or youth empowerment.

This LLC offers the opportunity for students to explore career options that mesh academic goals and commitment to creating more just and equitable communities. Students will emerge with the confidence and skills to make informed choices for life-long leadership and community engagement in any field they wish to pursue.
