C-SPAN Founder Lamb to Speak at Fenwick Library’s Booknotes Exhibit

C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb will bring 15 years and 800 interviews worth of educational gemstones to George Mason University’s Fenwick Library on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Lamb comes to Mason to speak at an exhibit comprised of his recently donated books and archives collection from Booknotes, C-SPAN’s long-running non-fiction author-interview program which he hosted.

Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to the exhibit and accompanying reception, which runs from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Lamb and distinguished historian Richard Norton Smith, a history and art history faculty member, will then discuss the Booknotes series, as well as its impact over the years, in the Johnson Center Cinema at 7:30 p.m.

Smith describes the evening’s programming as an excellent opportunity for attendees to pry into the mind of one of America’s most distinguished digital scholars.

"It’s hard to imagine anyone who has done more, not only to promote books, but to change the way Americans look at their government, than Brian Lamb," Smith said. "He’s an authentic cable revolutionary, and this is a chance for the Mason community to ask him about the state of electronic democracy, and anything else on our minds."

The event is free and open to the public, but attendees must RSVP by Sept. 16, by e-mailing gmuevent@gmu.edu or calling 703-993-2088.
