Dr. Al Fuertes was awarded the 2023 University Life Partnership Award. The faculty and staff wish Dr. Fuertes a huge congratulations and wish him continued success!
This award is open to all Mason employees who do not work within University life. Their evidence of work has influenced the 'building of bridges' between a University Life office and another unit at Mason. A demonstration of enthusiasm, leadership, and openness to collaborate must be shown.
Below are some of the excerpts that were submitted on his behalf:
“Dr. Fuertes’ commitment to his work, to the growth and development of Mason students, and to the advancement of society as a whole, is truly exceptional.
Dr. Fuertes has done so much, both in and out of the classroom over the years that I have known him, and I truly believe that the work that he does is underappreciated and may be overlooked.
[He] is completely committed to helping others grow and succeed, without regard for personal recognition. He goes way above and beyond his job responsibilities and is seen by many across the university as embodying kindness, compassion and a commitment to making the world better for others, especially those who are marginalized or oppressed. He not only does a wonderful job with his own work, but empowers and inspires others, which creates ripples of positive change."
