Dr. Al Fuertes Receives Accolades and Awards for his work in Peacebuilding

Dr. Al Fuertes, Associate Professor at the School of Integrative Studies (SIS), received a Global Peacebuilder Award from the Daniel Fissell Music Foundation last April 26 in Fairfax, VA. The award was in recognition of Al's work in peacebuilding and conflict transformation vis-a-vis psychosocial trauma healing in various countries around the world, esp. in places that are affected by conflict, armed struggle, and natural disaster. Al works with government leaders, international NGO's, displaced populations such as refugees and IDPs, leaders from various ethnic, political, and religious groups and communities, children, and young people.

Dr. Fuertes will also be conferred as  the 2019 Outstanding Sillimanian Award in the field of Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding by Silliman University in the Philippines in August. Silliman University is Dr. Fuertes'  alma mater for his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Theology. It is also the first American University in Asia, founded in 1901.
