Julie Womble Trkula currently serves as the Associate Director of Operations and General Manager of the Green Machine Ensembles, George Mason University’s athletic bands and campus life ensembles program. She holds a Master of Business Administration (2018) with an emphasis on leadership, project management, and finance; a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Leadership Studies (2008); and a Bachelor of Music (2007) with a concentration in flute performance.

In addition to her full time position with the ensembles, Professor Trkula teaches courses at the University in fundraising, management, and university studies. She serves on a University Life committee with a focus on strategic development of student engagement. Julie also manages her family’s home music business for both her husband’s and her private lesson students, where she instructs 15 one on one flute students weekly. She is the current and founding President of the Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter in northern Virginia (installed in 2012), as well as the Financial Advisor at Epsilon Pi (George Mason University). She is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, business honor fraternity; Kappa Kappa Psi, band service fraternity; Sigma Alpha Iota, women’s music social fraternity; Order of Omega, academic honor society; and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

During her career, Julie has also served as the Business and Operations Manager in the School of Music at George Mason University, and as a Retail Store Manager for a major national music chain, where she was consistently recognized as a national top saleswoman and performer. She has experience in human capital management, personnel development, change management, corporate policy development, marketing, sales, fundraising and budgeting. Her passion lies in human capital development and networking, where she can use her skills to help others make connections and progress with their personal and professional goals. One of Julie’s lifelong goals is to shift the landscape of funding for the arts and artists, and to develop new and sufficient funding streams for performing and visual arts organizations and their educational components. Julie can be reached at jtrkula@gmu.edu.
