Sociology: White Identity Movements, Integrative Learning, Social Behavior, Theory
As a current graduate student at George Mason University, Elexus’ interests range in the areas of social perception, behavioral analysis, and post-colonial & identity studies in pursuit of social change and civic engagement. She is a master’s student in the Public Sociology program where alongside her cohorts, and has implemented student workshops for professional and creative development to foster a more inclusive environment. After receiving her BA in Sociology from Christopher Newport University, Elexus spent time as an intern at the National Center for the Prevention of Community Violence (NCPCV) where she learned to improve community initiatives in youth and adult development. Elexus’ most recent working experience was with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) division at the U.S. Army Installation at Fort Belvoir assisting in their childcare programs for military families. Her importance was greatly felt in the promotion of positive youth and adult interactions that required consistent open communication with the military families she served.
Elexus currently works at the Social Action and Integrative Learning Office, housed within the School of Integrative Studies, as the Bonner Program Coordinator. Outside of academia and work, Elexus enjoys discovering new recipes to cook and share with family and friends. She is an avid reader of fiction and academic literature, and when she’s not reading she likes to run or go on coffee dates with friends.
