Section Information for Spring 2024

INTS 455  “Consciousness and Transformation in Action” ” is a 3-credit asynchronous course.  Offered for the first time in four years, the course explores how working with your own mind and consciousness can have a direct impact on your health, happiness, and sense of fulfillment in your career pathway.  We will especially examine research about practices that can lead to personal transformation – that is, enhanced well-being, especially in regard to professional success and flourishing.  We will study the theory and practices for deepening the student's own experience with mindfulness and contemplative approaches to inquiry. Portions of the course will deal with the nature of decision-making and how we can make values-center choices.  Each student will select a project for the course – with guidance and support from the instructor – for putting into practical action certain principles and research findings from the science of well-being.

Instructor:  Dr. Mark Thurston.  Write to him if you have questions: mthursto@gmu.edu

PLEASE NOTE: Completion of INTS 355 is NOT required to take this class.
