Section Information for Spring 2013This course provides an introduction to the research process. Students will: explore how prior research informs current understanding of problems; identify and critically evaluate issues related to interdisciplinary studies; and learn to articulate related researchable questions. Additionally, students will understand research designs and methodological concepts, and compare, contrast, and integrate various research methods from diverse disciplines. Each student will design a research project based on his/her own interests, selecting from a rich array of qualitative and quantitative approaches that draw on multiple learning styles. Students will come to understand more fully the relationships among academic research, critical evaluation of information, society's social and political structures, and the natural world.
