LGBTQ+ Trauma and Mental Health will explore the history, challenges and approaches to understanding and responding to trauma and promoting the mental health and well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ+) people. The course will investigate the disproportionate risks and prevalence of trauma and mental health challenges facing queer people, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self-harm and suicidality. And, how do race, culture, social class, gender, and religious background intersect with LGBTQ+ identities in understanding and responding to mental health challenges, to promote strength, resilience, and well-being?
