This course includes fiction and creative nonfiction (even a graphic memoir!) that explores issues about medicine, health and mental health conditions, healthcare policies and systems, and doctors, patients and families. Anyone with interest in these topics should enroll, but the course is particularly relevant for students in psychology, social work, sociology, political science or public policy, public health, education or special education, aging or disability students, nursing, pre-med, and other medical fields.
