Dunne Named SIS Executive Director
SIS Executive Director Kelly Dunne congratulates a new graduate.

This academic year, the School of Integrative Studies (SIS) welcomes a familiar face in a new role. As of August 25, Kelly Dunne assumed leadership of the recently-renamed school and began her work as its executive director.

Since 1996, Dunne has held a variety of positions in the unit, playing key roles in instruction, student advising, curriculum development, and staff and faculty administration. This range of experience within the unit prepared Dunne to become its newest leader.

Dean Deborah Boehm-Davis of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences announced Dunne’s appointment following a university-wide search conducted last spring.

With 20 years of experience collaborating with faculty and students in the unit, Dunne has a wealth of knowledge and energy to lead SIS.

She said, “I am very motivated to serve our SIS students and faculty. I know the incredible opportunities that our unit provides for our students and the Mason community. One of my top priorities is to expand our connections on and off campus and promote multi-disciplinary learning in and out of the classroom.”

A Virginia native, Dunne received a bachelor’s degree in classical studies from the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from George Mason University. In addition to serving as the unit’s chief administrator, Dunne also teaches courses in history and childhood studies.
